DBGorilla now supports Apache Cassandra 4.0 to 5.0 without installing anything on your nodes. It works with clusters you run yourself and with NetApp Instaclustr.
How the collector connects
The collector reads Cassandra’s virtual tables over CQL and uses neither JMX nor a node agent. You do not configure anything on the nodes or restart them.
The collector runs in your environment and opens only outbound connections. It connects with one read-only role that can select from system_views and system.prepared_statements.
Workload and cluster activity
DBGorilla shows workload by keyspace, table and operation, with redacted statement text. On Cassandra 4.1.5 and later, it also shows a live activity stream of in-flight requests.
You can view metrics for thread pools, caches, messaging, clients, compactions, hints and CQL statements. Table metrics include size, largest partition and tombstones per read. DBGorilla provides dashboards for each keyspace, node and table.
The schema diagrams show wide-column tables, including partition keys, clustering columns, materialized views and user-defined types. On Instaclustr, DBGorilla also reads the hosting platform’s own metrics feed for JVM heap, garbage collection and pending compactions.
We test the collector against Cassandra 4.0, 4.1 and 5.0 on every change.
