Free comes with 50 Gorilla Credits a month. Credits are what the agent spends when it actually does something: checks a migration, reads an EXPLAIN, simulates an index, lints a schema, answers a question. You get 50 fresh every month, and they do not stack up.

If 50 is not enough, Pro comes with a much larger monthly pool. If Pro is not enough, you buy credit packs on top, and those do carry over for a year.

Questions before you start

• Does DBGorilla connect directly to my database?

  No. You run a collector inside your own network and it pushes metrics out over port 443. Nothing is opened inbound, and we never hold a route into your infrastructure.
• Can it run anything against my database?

  Only if you switch it on. The collector’s [commands] block is off by default; with it off, the control plane cannot execute anything in your infrastructure. Enabled, it permits exactly two read-oriented operations: plain EXPLAIN, which is plan-only and never EXPLAIN ANALYZE, so the query is not executed; and a single SELECT capped at 1,000 rows with a 30-second statement timeout. Both are still bounded by the privileges of the database user in your collector config. The collector cannot escalate beyond that user.
• What do I need before I start?

  A PostgreSQL database, somewhere to run a Docker container on your own network, and outbound HTTPS. On a self-managed host you also run Prometheus node_exporter for host statistics.
• What about RDS or Aurora, where I have no host access?

  Two things change. The collector reads host metrics from CloudWatch instead of node_exporter, and it needs an AWS identity to do it: an IRSA role, an EC2 instance profile, an ECS task role or ambient credentials, granting rds-db:connect, rds:DescribeDBInstances and rds:DescribeDBClusters for discovery, and CloudWatch read. Cross-account works through an assumed role. On the database side you create an IAM-enabled user and GRANT rds_iam to it. TLS is verify-full against the bundled RDS CA.
• Is Free just a trial?

  No. Free is free forever, not time-limited. A single-host cluster can run on Free indefinitely. The 30-day Pro trial is separate; when it ends you stay on Free.
• Do I need a credit card?

  No.
• What if I run out of credits?

  Upgrade to Pro for a larger monthly pool. Beyond that, buy credit packs on top; packs roll over for 12 months, the monthly allowance does not.
• Which databases are supported?

  PostgreSQL and MySQL.
